Outline for Essay Three -(PICK ONE OF THE FILES BELOW – DO NOT DO BOTH) Instructions
Once you select a topic for Essay 3 from the list of topic options in the file below, fill in this outline before you start writing the essay. Look at the topic question that you chose and write the answer to the question on the thesis line. Then, pick 3 ideas to support your thesis (these may be reasons OR causes OR effects OR solutions, based on the topic you chose). Put those 3 ideas on the topic sentence lines.
Then, go back into the articles and find one quote/paraphrase from each source to go with each of your supporting paragraphs and write them on the outline. (You should have a quote/paraphrase from both authors in paragraphs 2, 3, and 4, so at least 6 quotes/paraphrases total). You can fill in the rest of the outline if you’d like, but the only required parts are the thesis, topic sentences, and quotes that you could use.
For this assignment, you can either complete the short outline (organized brainstorm) or the longer outline. They have the same required parts, but if the longer outline is overwhelming to you, you can complete the short version instead. Do not do both. Do whichever one you like better. =) If you want feedback on the outline before you write the essay, please submit the outline by Wednesday. To open the outline sheets, click on the links above. Fill in whichever sheet you would like to do and save it to your computer. Then, upload it by clicking the underlined heading above, click browse my computer, attach the assignment, and click submit. FILL IN THE OUTLINE BEFORE YOU WRITE THE ESSAY! If you do the outline after you write out the essay, it defeats the purpose of doing the outline at all. Use the outline to plan and then start writing
