You will observe and work with a student who has experienced stressors, adversity and/or risk factors at home or at school as identified by your field studies site supervisor. You will observe the student in at least three different settings (i.e., in the classroom, on the playground, in the counseling office, in groupsetting, participating in sports or activities, etc.) and document each of your observations of the student, using the Observation Feedback Form. In addition, you will personally interact with the student at least three times either in individual counseling, group
counseling, or in classroom settings as approved by and in collaboration with your site
supervisor. Document your interactions using the Counseling Feedback Form. Each
interaction or observation should be approximately 15 minutes at minimum. Finally, summarize your experience in an 5-6 page paper describing this particular
student’s background, adverse childhood experiences, internal and environmental
protective factors, cultural background, family dynamics and any other pertinent personal
information. Remember to keep names and identities confidential by using pseudonyms (OG will be student’s name).
Determine what the school is doing to foster resiliency for this student specifically (and
resiliency for ALL students at the school) with reference to the six parts of Henderson’s
Resiliency Wheel, CASEL’s SEL competencies, and transformationist trauma-informed
strategies. What are the observable Tier 1, 2, and 3 practices at the school site and how do
they support student resilience? Finally, make recommendations for additional steps that
the school could take toward fostering student resiliency.
I have attached the notes for all the meetings, also extra notes and the rubric plus a breakdown of the paper
